St. Clement Wins "The Jefferson Award" For Second Year In A Row!
Children, Inc. Service Learning Initiative, its sponsors and The Jefferson Award Foundation has recognized St. Clement School as a 2014-2015 School of Contribution. The award was on display at the St. Bernard Branch Public Library from September 8 – 18, 2015. Then the award was presented at school to the students and faculty for permanent display.
The "Jefferson Award" means that 70% or more of their student body (St. Clement School had 100% participation) actively investigated and planned service learning projects to address real needs in locally and globally by applying knowledge and skills learned in school. Students and teachers also reflected upon the impact they have made in the community and evaluated the value and outcomes as part of their studies.
This September marks the 10th year that The Children, Inc. Service Learning Program is recognizing local schools that have reflected a deep culture of contribution. The students have investigated and addressed issues such as hunger, poverty, environmental and energy conservation, health and literacy.
Families, community members and businesses are invited to honor these schools for making a positive difference; schools that are dedicated to service where they live and around the world.
